Life is great!! So because it is a joy to be alive I must complain about something, we wouldn't want all the joy to suck the fun out of life!!

Dancing

Dancing at cinco de Mayo

This is one of my favorite pictures of my dancing. Ivan is such an amazing dancer, and a great guy. I didn't think it would be possible to dance in those shoes, but it made it a lot easier to control the steps and movement.

Cumbia is a very powerful dance for me, is the second in my list after Salsa. Even thought i haven't been able to dance good salsa since I met Jorge in College (god, i can't believe that was 5 years ago!)

Ruined dinner

Yesterday, after leaving work early, I went home to find out that my husband had not purchased the rice requested on the grocery list, he couldn't figure out which one it was. Being used to always having rice at home I started to prepare dinner around the idea of having rice.

Cooking is not my favorite thing, but it's either I cook something, creative, or prepare to have whatever my husband can put together, which will be something that includes pasta and sauce or something put together from a box.

Anyway, the menu in my head read:

Potato Salad
Pork chops
and Mexican style Arroz con Gandules

I freaked out remembering that there was no rice in the house, the possibility of leaving the appartment and going to find some crossed my mind; but it dissapeared with thoughts of my husband burning the porkchops. Then the memory of a Goya box of rice came to my mind... arroz con gandules. Usually I don't buy this products, but my younger sister had suggested that I give them a try, and she can be picker than me.

I followed all the intructions and waited for the time indicated in the box. 25 minutes later i went to check that everything would be ready, and found that the smell of the rice was making me sick. It had to be wrong, it had to be something else. Grabbing a spoon and I went to try it. It was awful!! It had way too much seasonings and it was a very weird brown color, the gandules looked a weird shade of white and the rice was not fully cooked.

I could not stand it, my stomach started to whirl around. I was freaking out, that was going to be a big side of my dinner, i couldn't just have porkchops and potato salad... 2 minutes before starting dinner I remember some pozole my mom had given us couple of days ago, it saved dinner.

Lesson learned.... don't buy rice in a box again.

Happy Valentines day!

My favorite part of Valentines's day is the colors, Red and pink; and the roses it doesn't get getter than that.

I can not deal with romance, ever, in fact i'm not sure i believe in romance. I do believe in respect, understanding, responsabilities, negociations (compromise), honesty and acceptance. What can be more romantic that a partner who undestands who you are, and respects you for being yourself? what can be more romantic than knowing what your responsabilties are to your partner and knowing that he/she knows what his/her responsabilites are to you?
Happy Valentines Day !
